Project goal

A website for the Chamber, its members, sponsors, and community.

Sheri brought her experience with the Folsom Chamber of Commerce to Citrus Heights and led a broader effort to modernize the organization.

The website needed to establish the professional image the Chamber wanted while doing substantially more than presenting information. New members needed to join, current members needed account and event tools, sponsors needed visible recognition, and local businesses needed a useful directory and place to find community activity.

InfoStar designed the public website around those audiences, then connected it to the Chamber software already responsible for member and event functions.

Starting point

The website and the Chamber’s daily tools both needed to change.

The existing site no longer gave members, sponsors, or local businesses a useful reason to return. Important work continued through paper, spreadsheets, and separate email.

01

An outdated public website.

The Chamber’s online presentation did not reflect the professional, business-supporting organization Sheri was building.

02

Printed event spreadsheets.

Attendance tracking and event administration relied on printed records instead of a shared online process.

03

Manual event email.

Notifications and updates required separate email work because the website and event operations were not working as one system.

Member and community experience

Each audience has a useful reason to visit.

The site organizes the Chamber’s public information and software-powered functions around what each visitor needs to do.

Prospective members

Understand the value and join.

Membership information, benefits, and online sign-up provide a direct path into the organization.

Current members

Manage accounts and attend events.

Members can reach their account tools, register and pay for events, and receive event notifications.

Sponsors

Receive visible recognition.

Dynamic sponsor areas give the Chamber room to present participating organizations across levels and programs.

Local businesses

Find members and community activity.

The business directory, events, local happenings, and Chamber resources support networking and participation.

Chamber software integration

The public website and existing software work as one experience.

Visitors should not feel as though they have been sent to an unrelated system when they move from Chamber content into accounts, registration, payment, or other software-powered functions.

01

Staff maintain Chamber information.

Events, member records, account functions, and notifications begin in the Chamber software already used by the organization.

02

InfoStar connects and extends it.

Available APIs and XML exports move approved information into the website and support features outside the software’s standard presentation.

03

Visitors use one connected website.

Members and the public see events, register, pay, manage accounts, browse businesses, and review sponsor and community information.

The visual design was carried across the public website and software-powered paths so the transition remained consistent. When the Chamber software could not provide a needed feature, InfoStar used the access it made available instead of limiting the website to the default feature set.

Custom Chamber features

The Chamber can add ideas beyond the software’s standard tools.

Sheri’s goals were not limited to the feature list of an outside platform. The public website needed room for the Chamber’s own programs, community information, and new ideas.

  • Dynamic sponsor presentationSponsor visibility can be organized around the Chamber’s current programs and recognition levels.
  • Member business directoryBusinesses receive a public route where community members and other organizations can find them.
  • Local happenings and resourcesThe Chamber can publish useful community information even when it falls outside the software’s built-in content.
  • New pages and features over timeInfoStar continues to add what the Chamber needs as its programs and priorities change.

Working relationship

Sheri stayed involved from the first meeting through launch.

Mike met with Sheri throughout the project to review the direction, keep the work aligned with her vision, and make decisions as the website and integrations developed.

The initial website moved from the first meeting to launch in less than two months. InfoStar continues to add pages and functions as the Chamber grows.

The Chamber reports that paying membership and sponsorships have grown since launch. InfoStar continues to support new features, pages, and reporting as the organization changes.
